LOCATION
Welcome to Victory Hotel, where Sweden’s largest silver treasure was found!
This exclusive boutique hotel leaves no visitor unmoved! The flagship of the Bengtsson family’s private hotel chain in Stockholm’s Old Town
ACCOMMODATION
At the Victory, even the corridors are museums. We don’t think that hotel hallways have to be boring. Take a stroll along the corridors of our various floors to see exactly what we mean. We suggest that you start in the lobby, where one of Lord Nelson’s heart-rending original letters to Lady Hamilton, dating from 1801, is on display. Read, savour, and dream of times past...
In order to further highlight the nautical atmosphere, each room is adorned with a portrait of a famous sea captain and, in the double rooms, a portrait of his wife. In addition, each room features an antique portrait of the captain’s ship for our guests to admire. Many of those who stay at the Victory return year after year to further explore the realms of historical adventure.
FACILITIES This hotel is named after the English naval hero Lord Nelson’s flagship, the HMS Victory. No one can step inside Victory Hotel without noticing its fantastic collection of nautical antiques. Wherever you go you are surrounded by intriguing pictures, ship models, figureheads, dolls, etc., each with its own story to tell.
On October 15th 1937, construction workers uncovered part of a silver treasure which would later reveal itself to be the largest ever found in Sweden. The find amounted to more than 18,000 silver coins, along with items of silver plate, that had been buried some time during the 18th century. The Lohe treasure, valued at more than 100 million SEK, can be viewed at the Coin Museum just a short distance away. No one really knows who buried the treasure, or why. The only certain thing is that it once belonged to the Lohe family, members of the Swedish nobility.
DINING Adjacent to Victory Hotel is the renowned and award-winning restaurant, Leijontornet (the Lion Tower), named for part of a 14th century fortification wall that is on display in the main dining room.
MEETING FACILITIES
Lord Nelson was one of the world’s foremost tacticians. He was amazingly victorious in his battles at sea, where his sharp mind was quick to conceive daring, successful strategies. We like to think that our guests enjoy some of that same wind in their sails when attending a conference at the Victory Hotel. Regardless of whether it is a demanding board meeting or a more relaxed “kick-off”, we can provide the perfect setting.
